What material are the standard 8.4" disk size drive flanges made of?
Im fitting minisports 7.9 vented which uses M10 capscrews to attach the disk to the drive flange but im having a hard time drilling the holes out to 10mm.

The material the flanges are made out of are EN24 steel.
Best bet to drill them out to is by using a set of soft jaws in a vice clamp the flange in the vice and then using a cobalt drill on a fairly low speed.

Personally I would also use a pillar drill to try and keep things square

sharp drill, low speed, load of oil.
the one you have had difficulty with, start it agian from the other side of the hole with a new drill.

Really silly question, but are you not meant to be using Metro flanges ?

According to minisport for their alloy caliper brake kits you retain the standard drive flanges. I thought the same as you (GW) to start off with but Tom at minisport assures me they are just standard ones.
They had some built up with hubs, bearings, balljoints, cv joint etc.

Strange that. I'd agree with Guess Works. I don't think you can get the vented disc on without it hitting the steering arm if you fit it using a standard flange. The Metro flange gives the disc a different offset. If Mini Sport say use the normal flange though then they must be right, it's their product.
