Speedo one came off fine but rev counter was more stubborn, ended up snapping it so there is only a couple mm of spindle showing from the center control.

Is this fixable?

I may be able to get hold of an original rev counter on its own but if not can you just replace the spindle? Needless to say the top section of the pointer has the remainder spindle left in there so will need another of those?

Long shot or do I need to fork out for a whole 3 gauge instrument pod?

:)

I assume this is a later car than mine and that the needles are plastic. I'm not sure I understand which part has broken though. Did the needle hub break leaving a cylinder of plastic on the metal spindle? If so, I'd rig up a puller out of some small bits of sheet metal and get that part off. I'd use Krazy-Glue (cyanoacrylate glue) to re-attach the plastic cylinder to the hub. Once that cured, I'd put a tiny bead of slow-cure epoxy around the perimeter where the cylinder joins the hub (on the back side obviously). You have very little to loose by trying to repair what you have. If it doesn't work you can probably find a broken speedo or tach at the junk yard that has the correct needle type you need.
