Well I've just put in a sunstrip and to be honest I dont think its legal, it covers about 1/5 to 1/4 of the screen. Is it? If it isnt I'll probably end up putting it in the back window instead.

I read something somewhere about the fact that the wiper blades are not allowed touch the sun strip. Not sure how accurate this is though...

If your sunstrip is in the wiper blades swept area you will fail an mot!

When some of the tuner lads I knew would come for mot's I'd just put on some slightly smaller blades so the wipers didn't touch sunstrip and our tester couldn't knock 'em on it!

As above but some people remove at M.O.T time then replace after. Ive thought of putting one on my mini but i carnt see it to be allowed too wide for such a small windscreen so it would be pretty pointless

you might aswell just take it off for MOT time then buy a new one afterwards - its not as if they are expensive! Easier than faffing around with smaller wipers

Well, I could always take it off and buy a new one... but it was a PITA getting all the bubbles out of it, and I only fitted it about a week ago, MOT's due next month ;) I'll keep it on if I can though, i dont think it is in the area the wipers cover.... but I'll have a look. Thanks for the replies anyway.

Well I don't know about you, but you must be pretty short to be able to see out of the windscreen properly with a sunstrip in place... I'm not exactly tall < 6ft and I have to remove the sun visors as they get in the way.

when i had a 106, my first car, i used the left over tinting film to make a sun strip! was told back then and before when i had a solid black sun strip that it has to be 6inches (deep?) or less!
not sure if this was in relation to the whole screen and so a certain proportion of the screen or not! lol not sure if that all made sense or not... ramblings??

Well, I'm pretty short considering, I'm about 5 foot 7 at the moment (well I'm 15, but I've been 5 foot 7 for about the last 2 years!) It does limit visibility slightly, but I guess thats the price you pay for having the sunstrip and not having to hold your hand in front of your face every time the sun comes out, because the visors are completely useless :dontgetit:

Standard '93 on seats, so I'm sat pretty low, but pretty high for a Mini :D And I'm not even driving it yet anyway, but my dad is, and the obsession with modifying it has started early :)
