Did a search but couldent find anything, I rember a while back that Keith Calver started making the Splash Plates made out of thin bent metal for inside the sump to stop unnesseray oil being thrown onto the crank/gears or vise vera (I think this is what it helped correct me if im wrong) and was proved to save hp.

Ive e-mailed him about it and asked if he is still making them. He says he hasent had the time to re-design them and so has stopped making them for now.

There where a flury of them on eBay a while back but havent seen any since.
My question is that, Has anyone made one themselves and if so how hard are they to make and where do you mount them?

thanks.

I remember the thing you are on about - it was quite interesting as an article, aye. I reckon it was in the tech section of Mini Magazine... have you got any back issues? I might try to find it if I can...

i know someone with plans for them...but also been talk you should fit under crown cooling jets, intersepting the oil ways that point at the piston crowns just to aid cooling

the oiling issue is more to do with the cam rather than the pistons (though jets do have their place....)

The jets are just for cooling the piston crowns in a turbo motor. Nothing to do with windage plates
