Anyone on TMF a DJ and experience of this kit?
I'm looking at £350 for the iDJ2 and a further £250 for Speakers and Amp.

My son, the Budding DJ is working on me to buy him a Numark iDJ2 (along with some Peavey Speakers and Amp) so he can earn lots of money as a DJ using his 1,000's of tracks on his iPod and thus pay me back all the money he owes me for the Mini.

They're 'okay'
the thing is, its an all in one option that is good because its small and light, but bad in the case that if one bit breaks, you have to send the whole thing off to be repaired. thus not being able to do discos for a while.
although, for what it is, thats a high price.
and then theres Public liability and PAT testing , that are i'm affraid to say are pretty much mandatory in most hotels and the nicer type of venues. Quite a few community centers now ask for it.
Also lighting too.
its a big investment thats all, not trying to put you or your son off, but you have to spend a bit before you make a bit more.
i'd find your local DJ shop, theres usually one close by to most people. most of them are friendly and are happy to help you out and give advise (although do have a budget in mind, else they'll keep adding things on that you don't 100% need, but they think they can talk you into getting too)
If your son has a laptop, then personally, i'd use that with some DJ software to play all his MP3's than using the numark IDJ2
just my 2P
hope it helps

Not had any experience of that particular bit of kit, but Numarks are always good in my books, nice and realiable and high quality.
Hope that's of some use to you.

its worth buying something decent that'll last a lifetime with good care, than something cheaper, that will break after two gigs going in and out of the car.
Go for a DJ shop, if they don't have something in that you want, they can get it in for you, at a good price, or suggest something you hadn't thought of which might turn out to be better and easier.
where abouts in east midlands are you?
Fabtronic in northampton i'd recommend to anyone, i've just seen your part of rugby MOC so could be a little far out, but i'm pretty sure theres at least one close to rugby.

Edit: Just found a list of a few in east midlands.
CVS A.V. Specialists in coventry www.scratchmydeck.com

East midlands sound and light in grantham www.emslonline.co.uk
Hard to find records in birmingham www.htfr.com (i recommend too, only brought online from them though)
hope it helps.
