Sound Proofing

It has come to the stage in my project, that I am going to sound proof the inside of the Mini, mainly to keep exhaust, road, etc noise to a minimum. So, I need to know what products to use. I have read Rob Himself's Definitive Ice Guide and have decided to go for a sound proofing mat like THIS , and an absorbing sludge substance like in the guide, but I don't know any makes of this, or where to get any, so can someone help with that?
I was going to PM Rob but he has been offline since the end of November, so can anyone else help? Also let me know what you are using to sound proof the inside of your Minis and how effective they are.
Thanks

I spoke to a prof a work about sound deadening a car and she said it is one of the worst to do.
The little of what she said that i could understand is that, the dynamat type stuff is aplied to sheet metal panels so to stop them flexing with vibrations and creating noise, buy adding weight to the panel, reducing it resinance frequency.(note it does not stick very well if applied in the cold). dont forget the inside of the doors and rear quarter panels.
another way to reduce the noise is to fit sheets of foam or simular materials to absorb the noise that is already there. this can be fitted loose under carpets above the head linning (20mm max is all i could fit under headlining). this can also be fitted under the bonnet on the bulkhead (heat resistant type) this with help absorb the noise of the engine,
also soft bushes on engine mounts/ subframe mounts reduce the vibrations to the body panels.
also as Dan said to once block any holes esp in the bulkhead.
I have striped out the standard insulation out of my car before and i needed ear plugs to drive it.
1 seperate the noise from the compartment, soft bushes, block holes
2 stop vibration panels, by adding dynamat type stuff to panels
3 absorb noise that is in the compartments, by adding absobing foam
lots of tech on here but confusing site

Thats the stuff I want to know about, the sludge stuff, it goes on like a paint, then expands/foams up. I just can't find any products like it.

The Sound deadening did very little to be honest,... and made such a mess of the shell that i don't really think it was worth the hassle.
I would recommend Buying some cloud 9 under carpet sound proofing, made of a thick felt with a plastic backing, It can be cut to the shape of you carpet and then glued down to the floor. This also gives your floor a nice plush feel and doesn't make a horrid black mess of your shell on the inside. This coupled along with the standard carpet gives a very good result.
Exhaust noise is best combatted by fitting a twin box system. And road noise is greatly reduced by undersealing the car and fitting 'Dereks' arch liners... which stop the rain and road getting to the inner footwell.

I think you looking for this
Thanks, that was the stuff I was looking for.
A friend of mine bought that car of Rob_himself. And having seen it in all its glory... I can say it was probably a complete waste of time and simliar results could have been had by simply having the standard thick rubber backed bulkhead insulation on both sides (this does a fantastic job by the way if in good nick) and as mentioned previously, blocking up any holes you can find...

Thanks Retro, thats the kind of info I was looking for, might go with some of that cloud 9 stuff then.
