Hi everyone
I have a 1990 mini flame and im going to fit some hi/los at the weekend and was going to replace the knucle joints and cone spring rubber while i have it in bits. But when ive looked at the mini spares web page it says that the knuckle joints are up to late 1990 except for ones with built in spacer for extra ride height so any ideas on were i get the newer type please and are the cone rubber springs the same
Thanks Pete

springs are the same...

knuckles: two type one with a spacer (standard for 13" / sportspack) one without spacer... go for the one without the spacer

Thats interesting because the reason im doing all this is im also fitting my new 13x7 wheels and sportpack arches so does this mean i need to get the one with spacers?

not if you are fitting hi-los :P

you may get a problem with the steering rack - the lock-to-lock range is 'shorter' on factory 13" minis to stop them rubbing the inner arches on lock.

you may also want to consider sorting the rest of the suspension out - tie rods, bottom arms, rubbers etc - as 13x7 wheels will drive grim if the geometry isnt right.

Its got new shocks on the front along with new st/st heavy duty adjustable tie bars and i will be fitting new shocks on the back when i do the hi/los and knuckles.
Im sure ive read on here some were about the lock to lock and wheels rubbing on the inner arches and it can be sorted with a kad steering limiter or something like that but i cant seem to find anything

the rack thing isnt a big problem as long as you are aware of it - you generally are only on full lock when slow moving/parking etc

one thing to watch though is the edge of the front wing - trim this as far as you can as this will catch - especially when the tie-rods are adjusted to sort the castor angle out..

My brakes (vented 4 pots) gave me problems on full lock.

My friend fitted jubilee clips or something to my rack, means my lock to lock is same as the sportspacks etc. Its fine to drive and park etc, I dont even notice the difference.
