Model: city
Year: 1992
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
noticed earlier that the outside edges of both rear tyres are worn so much they're near enough bald but the rest of the tyre including the inside edge is fine on both sides, tyres have 28 psi in them so dont think they're under inflated. any help on how to fix it before i need new tyres

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

10inch 4.5 minilites

Got exactly same problem on mine, I've got a theory but be nice to get it confirmed..

At first I thought it might be wear in the radius arm bushes but jacked it up today and gave it a good shake they seem fine.
So I'm now starting to think to much toe in at the rear.

Going to try measure it tomorrow, Haynes says 3 and a bit mm

get the tyres swapped over and you should get afew more miles out of them before they become totally bald on one edge...

by swapped over, i mean get the tyre took off each rear wheel and swap them to the other side.

DO NOT just change wheels around, because the tires will be most likely directional, so they need to point the right way

...and the wear will still be on the outside :)

FWIW, I'd suspect the tracking's off.

Yes, but it will save him wasting the rest of the tyre for now.

The rear (as standard) cannot be adjusted for tracking purposes, i suspect either wear in the radius arms OR - are you sure these wheels havent been on the front in their lifetime? and its at the front that has scrubbed the outer edges?

You can actually buy shims to adjust the rear tracking.

Or adjustable brackets.

Its more than likely the bushes in your radius arms are pooped. Jack the car up grab the whole wheel and wobble it. watch where the radius arm bolts to the subframe, and you may be able to see it.

Or if its bad enough you will be able to see the positive camber you can visually.
