Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasnt sure where to put it. Also, ive searched but couldnt find what I wanted :)

On friday im getting a new carb fitted to Lily. Im going from having a HS4 on her to what Im pretty sure is a HIF38. I was told by the guy whos fitting it that I need to get a spacer. I ordered this one but have a feeling its too big (for a HIF44?):

Also is the spacer too thick?

Its going onto my 998 with a stage one inlet and I also have a Pipercross pancake filter :P Anything else you need to know?!

Correctamungo!

1.5inches is about 38.1mm which is where the the Hif38 gets its name from.

Looks like a 38, if it is for a 44 it won't make to much difference if the manifold is also. In fact it'd be better than using a small one, but don't forget the abutment plate hole.

Its 1 and 3/4s, so for a HIF44? :)

Does it need to be as thick as it is, as I think this is the only one they had that was this thick.

Also can I just use my 2 hole one thats on does it need 4 bolts?!

The thin bit of steel the outer cables connect to. Yes you can use the HS4 spacer. I'd use all 4 studs if you have them but tighten the 2 through the spacer first.

Okay, thanks ethel!

Im pretty sure that this is my inlet manifold clicky.. and it looks as though its got a big hole, so hopefully I can use this spacer! :P

Do I need to buy an abutment plate? And, is there anything else I need to buy to fit it?

You'll need something to hang the cables off and they are different for Hif's. http://www.minispare.....TMENT BRACK...

Note you also need a spring clip to attach the choke and the throttle cable needs a plaggy end that slots on to the plate.

Sorry if this is getting more complicated - these are the sort of bits people have kicking about their garage or you might find on Ebay etc.

Do I need a new throttle cable then, or is it just something you buy that goes on the end?

for the HIF38 you need:

HIF38
Spacer (HIF44 one will do)
Abutment plate - heatsheild/cable holder (HIF44 one will do)
Cable clip
New HIF throttle cable

hope that helps :P

ohh and that is the normal thickness for the spacer

sorry to change the subject a bit but was wondering why you are changing your hif for a hs4, thought that would be a bit of a downgrade as i understand the hif is better than a hs4??
