Hi Everyone, im 17 and just bought a 1990 british racing green, chromed up cooper for my first car. Obviously i want to start making it look a bit different so i thought about some deep dish 13 x 7 minilites. but i was a bit unsure if theyed rub the arches on full lock. any help would be well appreciated ! Cheers.

i've got 13 x 7's, they do absolutly nothing for the power or the handling! To fit them you'll have to trim the body work at the front to make the wheels fit and not rub and you'll also have to fit some wider arches....

if i were you i'd either stick with the size wheels you have (plenty of different styles available)or if you dont mind trimming the body work go for 6 x 12's deep dish...

not only do you have the arches trimmed but i would recommend uprating the suspension as well, on the ex's car we used to get through ball joints like nobodys business, changed to hilos, spax all round, poly bushes on all suspension components and not had one go since. what i have learnt over the years with 13's is they look nice, and to behonest dont handle too bad(bit of tram lining on the motorway) if setup with the right suspension.

cheers for the quick answer mate. what kind of work am i looking at, trimming the arches and all, its just had a rescent respray so i dont really want to go choppin things off. also, probably a jaw dropping questions for you mini experts but i was just wondering, theres a switch on my dash with what looks like a brake pedal and you have to hold it for it to stay on. just wondering what it does as i havent got a clue. thanx for all the help.

the switch you refer to is your low level brake fluid level warning switch,if your brake fluid drops to a dangerous level the red light will illuminate, pressing the button merley tests that the bulb in the switch is working
as for the wheels, when i fitted mine i got a template from minispares which shows you where to cut,i also fitted hi-lo and adjustable gaz dampers, the mini was never designed for such large heavy wheels so it is key to ensure your suspension components are up to the job.

it depends on what arches you will be looking at fitting, if your after sportspack arches i'm sure you'll find a template on here or fleabay, for others arches i'm not too sure if there is a template.

anyone know of any?

to be honest if you have a completely standard, original suspension setup then going to 7x13's will not be a rewarding experience.

to limit their effects, you should at least sort out the suspension - tracking, uprated dampers, possibily new doughnuts, adjustable bottom arms and tie rods. at the rear adustable camber brackets too.

Could always go for 6x12 supalites. Still need to trim the arch, but not as much. And they are a nice wheel, dont comprimise handling and dont wear wheel bearings.

Heres mine.

Go for some 7 x 13 Gold Supalites, they do look nice and as mentioned in previous comment, with HiLo's, Spax Adjustables and Poly Bushes they make the best of the set up, oh and don't forget the Sportspack Arches>>>>>>>>>>>and it'll look like the "Dogs Danglies"
