Hi, I've owned my mini for nearly 7 years and have been driving it for over 3 years now. I'm with Footman James and haven't built up any no claims for the last 3 years, now I come to get a 2nd car and the price's are ridiculous.

I've looked at a 03' Seat Ibiza 1.4 but with the 0 years no claims all insurance quotes are in excess of over 1k (I'm 20). I'm currently paying Just over half that on the mini.

I've spoke to Footman James and there willing to send letters to the companies to verify I have not claimed, which I have not. But the companies are saying because I have not built up "Official No-Claims" then it cannot count.

Personally I think it's just a reflection of how this country is purely run with ridiculous administration regs without any common sense or judgement from these companies.

Sorry to go on, but this really has annoyed me.

Does anyone know of any good company's where I could get a half descent quote?

Thanks for listening lol

You may have already tried but try moneysupermarket.com. I found its the easiest comparison site to use, and always comes up with the cheapest quotes for me.

also when i bought my mini i went to transfer my insurance which was with quinn direct and they said they dont insure cars over 20 years old!! bummer! so i had to take out a new policy with a different company and missed out because i had a claim with quinn :w00t:

I'd recommend Bell as well. I was in the same situation as you, trying to insure another car when I still had my NCB on my Mini.

Out of interest I got a quote from Direct Line using my 5 years no claims. Then I got a quote from Bell with 0 years no claims. The quote from Bell was cheaper than the one from Direct Line!

Although you say you haven't made any claims has anyone made any claims against you because of an accident? I'm with Adrian Flux and prior to that I was with Insureyourmotor.com where they gave me a full years no claims after the first year which I passed onto Adrian Flux and they gave me a discount and send me a cheque, only a small amount but they recognised the one years no claim that I had achieved and now I'm heading for two years no claims.
I would fish around as other members have said because I'm sure that 99% of insurance companies honor the no claims discount scheme, it maybe that the company you are with have a policy for young drivers and don't give any no claims until a given age. I've only passed my test almost two years ago and only had my insurance shortly before that.

Good luck!!!

I know its an arse of a job, but try all the comparsion sites...

Confused.com
Moneysupermarket.com
Comparethemarket.com

Out of all three, there was around a £400 differ in quotes for my astra...
Dearest (cheap) being around £800 - confused.com, cheapest being £320 - Comparethenarket.com

Thanks for the replies guess this is a topic were all interested in. I've spoke to loads of companies over the last few days and found that one of them will accept my 3 years 'Unofficial No-Claims' as official and have actually received a quote of £400 for a 04' 1.9 Tdi Ibiza, which i think I may treat myself to for my 21st.

Thanks for the replies.
