I think the worst thing about it is, the basic principles which it claims to work on (creating a swirl to mix the air and fuel) is sound, so if you know a bit about engines, but not a whole lot about physics, you'll think 'aaah isn't that clever, surely that's the same as having rough port walls'.
But obviously it's going to be more of an airflow restriction than anything else.

But if it creates a vortex that is supposed to disturb the air thus creating a more combustible fuel air mixture why is it that some people polish the air intake of their cars ?
