Hi! My name is David and i m from Portugal and i m beginning to restore my mini!
The car had an accident 9 year ago the shell was bent, but i was told that it was correctly straiten. But it was not has i will show you in the pics. Although the new front subframe did fit on the mounts in the back, the front mounts don't line up and there is an uneven gap between the front wheels and shell. Any ideas ?

And there is the rust problem. But were do i start first ? Should i begin to solve the front end bent problem? or the rust?

here is some rust pics

it looks to me like you have the correct gap at the back of both wheels and the correct gap at the front of the left wheel but not at the front of the right wheel..

it would seem to me that your wings might be the problem but that is hard to see as the pics are a little too close to tell..

i would think that i the chassis was bent too much then the wheels would not have the correct gap at the back of one of the wheels as well as the front of one of them

as for the rust it all depends on what you use the car for, daily drive or second car???

if it is a daily drive then take one bit at a time... if its a second car then you would be just as well to take it part and repair all the rust at the same time then a full respray

i am not in the body work trade so this is all my opinion and if i am wrong then someone will correct me

good luck

Thanks for the fast answer. I think your right. I will measure the distance between the wheels right and left side to see if they are the same, tomorrow i will post more photos.
