Anyone know when the fuel pump comes on? Is it when you put the ignition on or is it when the engine is cranking.
when the ignition is first set to on just before the starter is engaged there should be a 3 second pump of fuel to get pressure in the rails. then it waits for a crank. while its cranking i have no idea, but then it starts the moment the engine gets above 500 rpm (at a guess).
download the nemesis software and have a look at the config, its quite complex but you should see the settings in the output segment i think.

Well I have sorted the no fuel pump problem now but it still wont start. My battery seems to turn the car over very slowwly and runs out of buff after a few cranks. Any ideas about my starting problem and also what size batteries have you guys got. Mine is the small one Zcars supplied that fitts at the front.
Rob
i have the same battery from zcars and its actually quite amazing how long it lasted without a charge when i was playing about with the electronics.
do you hear the clicking from the injectors?
is there actually fuel in the rail?
have you connected the power up kit correctly?
have you attached the earth strap to the engine?
have you attached the alternator to the starter motor?
are you sure it charged up fully? the batteries are good for about 15 attempts at starting (apparently, im sure i had more from it)
when i had problems with my setup i called zcars when i was infront of it and they pointed out that the fuse board was connected wrong. as in the push in connectors on the sides were the wrong side round. but it sounds like your past that.
hmmm

yeah there is a threaded bolt whole in the block / gearbox under the starter somewhere obvious with flat for a washer. the whole is raised up i think.
i attached a braided cable from that to the shell, that same earth point i used for the power up pack earth.
that might well be the key, if you think about it where can it can earth? everything is rubber mounted.
good luck

Finally started her last night. Thanks Al earth strap did the trick. Running very lumpy and backfiring quite badly but then starts ok. Ticks over but sounds like it is missing. It was 8:30 and my exhaust was only a foot from the garage door. Try again tonight with the garage door open.
