This is my first car which I adore, my British Open Classic called K.P.

Plan to make the engine bay all shiney with a combination of sprayed apple jack green parts and chrome shiney bits. My car had a full respray in the summer and is looking fab :) The engine also runs really well, sounds great :P

Plans are also to leave the exterior as it is (body work is in good nick) but get black and white pressed plates so it looks a bit more retro. The car has been deseamed very slightly by the last owner and it's really subtle. Hoping to keep it all looking a little different and retro, but no major changes.

A brand new interior that is custom designed and made shouldn't be too far away. It will be black and green, with a new dash and carpets to match the car's exterior.

It also has space for a webber which may or may not be filled....depends if i can save enough money!

An absolutley amazing ebay buy I'm sure you'll agree, and what makes it even better is the fact that it was a surprise present from my boyfriend :withstupid:

so here it is...

K.P. looks cool :withstupid: , but I think she may have faded a bit in the wash?! :)

Quite a present. I reckon the boyfriend could be a keepr...

Your retro plates will be illegal, so don't cry if a sharp-eyed copper pulls you over for them.

thanks everyone

as for the number plates, i know they'll be illegal but hopefully i'll get away with it for long enough...maybe ill use them as show plates if i get caught. some friends in the mini club have a k reg mini with pressed black and white plates and they've had it for years but its never been stopped...hopefully they're luck will rub off! :)

yes i definatley will buy some overriders of my own, maybe in malvern in a few weeks :)

Looks an iddy bit like my first Mini that had a webasto and was Citron yellow. Everyone said it was green though - possibly 'because I used nearly 5 litres of Nato olive green as undercoat :)

I'm off down to take the rad off today for a lick of paint (colour's a surprise hehe)

Anybody got any tips? Pretty sure I know what I'm doing, its straight forward enough i guess.

Wish me luck! :withstupid:

Ok, taking the rad out was easy enough, but now that its out I'm trying to get the fan cowling off. One of the bolts has reasonable resistance, but its just spinning, not coming out. The rest came out fine, but this one wont come out. Cant get to it from behind either, what am I supposed to do?? Dont want to have to replace the radiator, but i dont mind replacing the bolt. If I have to drill it out, will the radiator need to be re tapped? Cant think what other options I have, other than masking it off, but I'd rather take it all apart then spray it. Plus the rusty nut will look shabby next to a fresh lick of paint.

Little progress under the bonnet, been busy spraying!

Couldnt get the rad housing off in the end, so it all took twice as long. Had to mask everything off as opposed to taking it apart and spraying them both at the same time :D

Anyway, here's the rad after taking it as far back to metal I could be bothered:

Also polished up the old rad cap, as it was all pitted and corroded:

And here it is back in place, minus the top bracket bolt as it seems to have gone walkies :(

Posted Image

Overall progress shot, although now it's got a few more chrome bits and some VERY green HT leads :D

Been a bit quiet in here, so I'll update with a bit of todays progress.
Cleaned and painted a few more bits ready to go back on, the breather case and the coil bracket. Got a couple pics of them, I should get round to fitting them tomorrow if it's nice!

I'll grab a picture of the engine bay tomorrow if I fit them, its come a bit further than the last picture!
