Hello all, being an Mpi owner and noticing recently that my header tank is looking past it's best I looked into a replacement. I was worried that it may split and leak in the future and therefore leave the mini off the road.

I have bought a couple of the plastic replacements recently and noticed that these aren't readily available. I also saw that MiniSpares advertise an alloy replacement and it got me thinking about making my own version of it.

Here are a few pics, i have just picked it up from my friend who runs a metal fabrication company and here is the prototype. I am open to criticisms and suggestions. I do not know how much it has cost me yet but i will find out and if people are interested i can take orders and sell them. It will be dearer than the MiniSpares one.

It differs from the MiniSpares tank in that it still uses the original Rover cap rather than the older style cap and therefore doesn't have an overflow pipe, therefore is a lot neater looking. The pipe connections are flared at the ends therefore ensure a secure fitting. All welds are ground down for a smoother look. It will come fully polished, not shown in the picture. Also i will look into engraving, painting etc. There is a small metal step welded inside, visible through the neck, to show the fill level.

Just put them up, needed to 'manage my attachments' to make room for them, all sorted now.

Thats a really nice looking unit, very nicely finished from the pics. The plastic ones are now readily available again, we have some 200+ units in stock

Thanks for the compliments on the finish. That's good news about the plastic ones being back in stock. My girlfriend bought 7 from you guys late last year on behalf of a few of my customers in case you didn't get more in plastic ones in stock soon.
