Hello All! I was looking for infomation on restoration tips for my new mini project and came across your forum. I'm in it deep. Have never owned a mini and living in the states makes the job a little tough. So I thought get in with the guys and gals who know what there doing and start getting my hands dirty. Thanks

Welcome to the forum, and also the joys of mini ownership ! there are a number of restoration(?) projects on here, but something which I found useful is a restoration manual by haynes, it covers the basics and is very good introduction to the things which need to be considered...

Thanks for the warm welcome! I have already purchased the Haynes Restoration Manual, and was thinking about the Workshop Manual as well. By the way I have a 1990 Mainstream Mini Cooper
1275cc single carb motor
Dents and some rust. However with the little research I have done this is just part of Mini ownership. The motor has some oil leaks which as you guys put it still needs sorting. I'm scared as hell to pull the motor, as being a novice, think I may never get it back in. Hey, as I'm thinking about it how hard is it to make this engine a screamer, and should I put in Dual Carbs..Etc...I am so open for ideas. I have already fallin' in love with the car and can't wait to get started. Sorry everyone, but your going to see me on the forum alot. Thanks Again.

Welcome, Reverb... Another resource you can tap is our very own TMF CD... loaded with original manuals, FAQ's, and all manner of other good info... it shouldn't cost much to send to the US... Guessworks is the source.
We have a few other members in the States... CA, FL, NC.. as well as Canada, so there are a few people you can get in touch with who have the same problem of Mini ownership the North America way!
