So yeah how do you fit one? im mounting the speakers to the back of the speaker board and covering over the front, so people dont kick them in, (will this affect sound covering them with vynal)?

So how do i fix the speaker board in place with minimum holes in the body shell and so that theres not millions of screws showing after ive covered it?

Or would it be easier to do it without mounting the speakers behind

Cheers, Matt.

i just drilled 2 small holes through the board into the lip where the bench seats sit. Then used 2 small self tappers. Fixed solid.

I attached mine with two pieces of L shaped tin, one screwed onto each door bin and then you can screw the board to that + the screws into the middle squab support.

Yeah might do that, or just put a long peice of wood screwed to the speaker board at each end so if it gets kicked backwards itll hit the metal at the back of the gap if you get me :s

Also, how would i cover it.. just use staples and spray adhesive?

+ would covering over the speakers make the sound rubbish?

spray glue on the front, stapled round the back I wouldnt cover the speakers. The material wouldnt stop them being kicked and would probably muffle the sound. Speakers normaly come with covers if u want to cover them

covering the speakers with ACOUSTIC CARPET wont do anything to the sound...do ur speakers have grills??

And is ur board made of mdf? cause again i wouldnt spray the front of it...spray glue on speakers would make them worky...

Spray glue or hot glue gun along the back so the adhesive covers the board, glued down will do perfect.

Yes, even if you use acoustic carpet. Acoustic carpet is not designed to be put over speakers, it's designed to cover sub boxes etc. It's the reason why most people are put-off the idea of stealth shelves on cars etc. And is certainly the reason why 100% of car manufacturers dont hide the speakers behind carpet, but use plastic covers.

However, if it is for security purposes, or to make your Mini look retro then go for it!

But if i was you I would do a test first, pop your CD player on in your house and put a tea towel over each of the speakers, see what you think...

Yeah want to go for a retro / stealth look for security aswell.
was thinking of using some grill and doing a chrome rectangle around the outside of it, i think it would look good against the black vynal,
also thought about using two of these vents...

Would be to cover 6x9's but the metals abit bendy so wouldnt offer proper protection, would defo look retro though!
