Hi All,

I'm looking at building up my engine and keep reading about there supposedly being studs in the block that the transfer casing slides onto................. I don't have these :)

Minispares list the short but not the longs ones :D , can anyone help me find them / sell me them??

Also is it possible to get a list somewhere of all the nuts / bolts to put it all together as im guessing with what is in the box that came wiwht the enigine and don't want to balls it up!

Oh, how many countersunk screws do I need on the timing cover when fitting a duplex gear - it is far too cold and dark int he shed now as im ready for bed :)

Thanks,

Wilson

You need 2 counter sunk screw for the duplex timing chain end, there are 1/4 UNF

As for studs on the block there isnt any, there is however a couple of locating dowels in the gearbox/trasnfer casing cover. The bolts for holding the cover on are 5/16 UNF for the top half into the block and 5/16 UNC for the rest, the lengths vary and cant think as to what length they are off the top of my head right now sorry.

early units used studs... this was then changed to bolts...

a few reasons why the studs are better... but hey ho!

I thought I was missing something after reading the Haynes book of lies lol!!

I have found bolts to fit the block but think i have no where near enough for everything else!!

So is there somewhere that has an exploded diagram or something?

As icklemini said, early engines used studs, whereas later engines use bolts, UNF for the block, UNC for the 'box.
