Hello, just wondered if anyone on here has any ideas as to what i should check to solve my 1992 spi cooper's idling problem, as i said in the title it isnt idling smoothly at all and the engine appears to be jumping all over the place even though the mountings are tight..

any suggerstions?

H ave you checked over all the basics..sparkys, ht's etc also worth look over is the two vacum pipes that go into the back of the throttle body that also go to the little black box nxt to it..could even be a blockage in the fuel filter

check that the black pipe has not seperated from the ECU

Ok, well i checked the black pipe from the ecu as suggested, i followed this pipe and it led to a small black box which i think is the fuel trap, the pipe was fine but i realised there was nothing else connected to the box, allthough there was like a small black pipe next to the elbow wich looked like it should have something on it. I had a look around and found a pipe coming from the back of the throttle body that wasent going anywhere so i put this on the fuel trap, and it the engine ran smooth for the first time in weeks >_<
