hi my boyfriends 1970 850 that has had the rear bumper and seam removed by the last owner. he is wanting to put it back, he was thinking about adapting the front bumper lip to do the job has any one done this or know of a better way that it could be done as he is not a fan of the smoothed rear on a classic mini.

You can buy a replacement lip for the front valence. Its unlikely to be the same curve as the rear, but would be very easy to bend it to the right shape, then weld it on with a plug weld every couple of inches and bolt the bumper back on.

On my van, someone deseamed the front, and I welded a new lip on - dead simple.

The replacment mounting lip you buy spot welds on from underneath so you could rivet/ self tapping screws with speed fasteners on the back the lip on, then bolt your bumper on as usual.

couldnt you just fabricate 3 brackets for each bumper. just plate at each bolt. seems simpler and then if you wanted to debumper again you just unscrew/bolt the brackets.

Yep that would also work.. I was just thinking for more of an original type of mounting.

The bumper mounting lip is available from Minispares and I would guess available from Moss and other panel suppliers.
