Just a quick one, my minis due for its mot soon and I noticed a hole in my rear valance, its quite corroded but the valance isn't structural is it? I've seen some minis without a valance fitted so hoping its not a fail...

If it's within 30cm of brakes or suspension then it should fail but I suppose it's also down to the testers discretion.

if it's in the area of the corner closing panels ( eg where the fog light is usually attached ) then yes it 'should' fail

A rusted sharp edge can be 'mended' with carpet tape.
Corrosion within 30cm (as pointed out above) can't be.

Gits rear valence was just made up of gaffa tape along its whole length.

Bodge solution....

Fill corner enclosure with expanding foam, remove excess foam when set, skim over with filler and paint..

I might do this for my whole front end.... :)
Seriously, that's a cool MOT fix.

Build some shuttering to enclose the foam maybe?

Have a look at these - my rear valance is looking quite swiss cheese like.
Going to try and kurust it and see whether it can get it to stay stable until my welding improves (and the weather improves!)
