You don't need to test the voltage. The ballasting on an injection car is controlled by the ECU rather than by a discreet resistor in the wiring harness so it's not easy to test. All you can really test in the coil itself is the resistance of the windings. Why do you need to test it?

Hi Dan

well in a previous topic i have been having problems with my mini..its on page 3 i think...my mini has suddenly packed up on me..saying that it will turn over idle beautifly engine sounds normal as always..but when i go off the clutch and accelerate it will shut down..got it home just about kept stalling and having to rev quickly to get back..now it wont do that..

so checkd over leccys and vacum pipes...nothing i was thinking maybe its the coil packing up

I doubt that has anything to do with the coil, chap.

are you getting any blue/black smoke out the exhaust, or white steam? Is there any mayonnaise like deposit underneath the oil cap or in the radiator? and are you noticing fluctuating temp readings?

Sounds to me like one possibility could be that the clutch release bearing has gone.

I agree that it doesn't sound like the coil.

Will it run and rev normally without load? Is it only when it's accelerating under load that the problem occurs?

I suspect you have one or more faulty sensors in the injection system. You say you've checked the vacuum lines to the MAP sensor, I think it's time to suspect the sensor itself.

I have to admit that injection isn't my favourite area though and so I'm going to move this into the injection section.
