Hey

I don't know whats going on this week but I think I have seen 4-5 new minis on my normal comute this week.
Its great to see them all.
I normally see 1 mini about every 2 weeks. So I was just wondering is the good weather here or have a load of new mini owners moved to Sheffield?

mine doesn't get 'laid up' so to speak, but it lives in a garage full time, and if it's raining I won't take it out. That said, it's still used probably 3 times a month /as near to every weekend as possible providing it isn't raining.

Living by the sea it's just not safe to leave it out side.

After the last rebuild/respray, it was parked 15 yards from the sea for 3 years, and the tin worm came back strong, the salt air just kills Mini Metal! So it's now in a dehumidified garage.

Mine like all Minis is MOT'd for a full year and I'll be damned if I'm leaving it in the garage for several months and not making the most of it.

However I do try to avoid using it during heavy rain (not easy here in miserable Taffyland) and only yesterday I was out in it driving over a big mountain in an absolute blizzard of snow.

Damned good fun though and he didn't miss a beat.

Mine's been on points ignition for the past few years, so I literaly COULDN'T drive it in heavy rain without a horrific misfire :teehee:

Sorted now with leccy ignition :dontgetit:

Everytime I load up this thread, I'm given the option to vote, but everytime I do I get an error message? But mine is used all year around like I said.

Minis are for driving - wouldn't dream of laying mine up for the Winter!

Rain or shine, he's going to be running (and, touch wood, has never let me down yet either).

Yup. Agreed! And when the second one is done, he'll be running all the time too!
I'll have to learn o drive two cars at once though.
Actually, I'll take on to work one day, and then the other the next.
That'll confuse 'em!

My mini was my first and only car for 3 years and was driven in all weather with very few problems. when it was a 1275 it hated the wet, but as a 998 it ran perfectly in torrential rain without the weather shield! I had the view that it "can be" so should be driven all the time.

However i took mine off the road in october in order to do some major work on it, and have been using a pug 306 i bought since then. I now think i will only tax the mini for 6 months at a time and run it over the summer months. whilst i'd love to run it all year round, i dont think it would be so fun if i used it everyday!

Every year I plan to SORN the mini and garage it over the winter however I always find a reason that I need to keep it taxed and end up using it during the winter however it only comes out on nice days.
