Thats the only thing i can think of, i will check it out. The cars previous owner was an old lady and i was told by her daughter she had had a mod done so she could change gear easily? there is also a wire coming up the side of the gearstick so i will investigate tommorow.Looks like another servo, it's not piped into the clutch hydraulics is it?
Having looked around the car the body and interior is very good considering it hasn't moved for so long, it seems a shame to start taking it apart to mod.

I'd take a guess the servo vacuum can be switched on or off to release properly, it would make pushing the clutch easier, sounds a little complicated really to me, but it would be interesting seeing how it's been done. The last servoed clutch i saw was on a 535 bhp lotus carlton which were reknowned for having a heavy clutch, minis also are a little heavy really compared to more modern cars, makes sense to servo assist it for the previous owner. Its some sort of clutch mod, there is something extra bolted to the top of the clutch pedal as well, there seems lots of extra pipes and a couple of unidentified solonoid looking gizmo's in there too? Ive never seen anything like it.

Apparently there is a switch which i have found on the dash which when turned on turns this system on making the car automatic!!!!!
It says it is the only accessory capable of automating the clutch on any type of automobile without the need for the slightest modification to the clutch.
The device does not cause any loss of power because it works by vacuum.
Apparently at under 10mph the clutch will disengage everytime the accelerator is released.
At speeds over 10 mph for quick clutch dissengagement you just touch the knob on the gearstick when you take your hand off engagement is just as rapid.
A simple switch enables the driver to disconnect the servoclutch thereby returning to pedal control.
Amazing mod really. The car ghas only done 36,000 miles and i have every receipt from new and every m.o.t., it has a full service history. It has to be too good to mod, isn't it. Do i mod or do i sell and buy something needing more work?
