Hi,

Ive started stripping my (unknown spec) 1380 motor down.

The camshaft is stamped with M2285 at the oil pump end.

Can anyone ID this for me and provide any information as to what it is?

Ive got a piper 285 on the shelf mate. The markings are different, that isnt to say that they may have changed the markings though!

Any more suggestions?

Yes, the one i have on the shelf is stamped BP285

Not a stupid question. I looked it up on google after seeing it on here alot the other day. It's the I suppose antisocial way of getting your topic moved up the new posts list without actually saying anything, just typing in bump.

Just got hold of a mini sport catalogue and I see what you mean. It could be. I'll check it's a 2 and not an S. Still not sure what a P in a circle on the cam is. Thanks

Are you sure it is not a MD285, this would be a Megadyne came by kent very popular Fast road cam, Slightly lumpy tickover & a very good all round road cam. If not it might be a reground cam that has been refurbed to 285 spec.

It is definately: - M2 285 @ (actually a "P" not a in the "circle").
