mini sport do one made by safety devices they are a good cage

Minisport IMHO are way overpriced

I have a rollcentre cage in mine with doorbars fitted perfect, i would highly recommend it!

i would say safety devices, they have the best reputation. but i have seen those new alloy ones, nice n shiny and look the nads!

there's an ad in the back of minimag for T.T.LYLE Metal designs

there's a 3 leg cage £59.50 (as original 60's italian job style) which fits onto rear parcel shelf

4 leg £69.50 38mm tube with twin hoop design with optional diagonal bars

or

6 point cage £139.50 that has optional door/dash/diag bars

they all just drill in apparently

No, I think Safetydevices are still manufacturing they have just moved production to Poland due to what they say is economic pressures.

Those chrome ones I believe are mainly show purposes only, they aren't as safe as a FIA appoved one. I believe Safety Devices are trading again, albeit with a slightly changed name (something like Safety Devices Motorsport??). IMO, get a Safety Devices or a Rollcentre cage.

What do you want the cage for? If its show then get a cheap one, if its safety then get an FIA one from the likes of Safety Devices or Rollcentre, etc.

Remember tho, show cages can be dangerous in the event of an accident becasue they are not up to the job of supporting the car, they are just for show.

Ive got a 6 point tt lyle cage in my mini and its brilliant. Its really well made and very chunky, and best of all only £200 with dog leg door bars. Its not FIA spec but it looks to be made to just the same quality as the safety devices cages ive seen.

i was looking at those tt lyle cages the look good for the money and they are steel not ali (ali is about as good as a chocolate tea pot ) but i got a saftey devices one from ebay the other day for £72 just because everyones gonna know its the real deal even if its only there for the look :grin:

A mate has got the T T Lyle or whatever it is cage. I had a look over it and all the welds look really strong, all the bends in the tubing look good. Safety Devices cages WILL be of better quality steel, but I have yet to see a rollcage from everyday road use suffer a catastrophic failure in an accident. Cheaper steel generally is more malleable, which if anything would HELP in a huge accident.
Safety devices are able to charge what they want as they are FIA approved. A full cage would cost the best part of a grand. If you cant afford that much, I would rather get a £225 full cage (what the cheaper manufacturer costs for the full rig) than just have a rear cage from safety devices or wait til I could afford a full cage from Safety Devices.

Well i have got in contact with safety devices to see how much the 6 point cage and dog leg door bars and rear fixed diagonal would be. I know you can put a price on safety but if its to much i will go for the t t lyle one. Thanks again CJ aka Pandora
