Sorry for my poor English, but the bottomline is that I love the blatant sound of tuned mini's.

Except the exhaust, I'm looking for more options for get a impressive sound that scared you. Sensational racy sound, you know. Comes from the engine, not from the exhaust.

So, I found out that a 2-wing metal fan made another sound than the 4-wings and the plastic fans. With the 2-wing metal fan: if you give gas, it's like a airplane that was running for a take off..

And now I hear anyone saying the ITG-filter give a really another, compared with the K&N filter, a weird impressive sound.

I don't know or this is true, and a ITG-filter is not really cheapass. Can anyone tell me more about that? Is the sound of the ITG impressiver than the K&N? :D

I think the sound your after is made by straight cut gears

They can usually be heard way before you hear the engine/car itself and make a distinctive whining noise that often gets mistaken for a supercharger/turbo

Indeed, but the straight cut gears are very expensive I thougt? More than 500 pond.

I'm looking for more options to get an impressive sound from my mini.

But anyway, my question is of the ITG-filter is more loud than the K&N filter? Does anyone know that?

The noise of straight cut gears  that's what I loved about Santa Pod, listening to all the minis lining up to go on the strip, that whining noise is to die for!

Ups and downs of straight cuts?

Up side is they don't transfer any side loading due to the straight cut gears, and as a result, less power is lost through the transmission. Some people say that technically a helical gear is stronger, due to the meshing area I think, but the angled teeth of a helical gear impose a side loading on the shaft.

Same again with straight cut drops, there is no side loading on the transfer case, so less power lost through the drops.

I've got SC drops, an SCCR box, and a weber 45dcoe on my mini, and you really do hear all that way before the exhaust!

That's not running a weber, but if you turn the sound up, you can hear the gearbox WAY before the exhaust!

Do you mean this:

Gives this kit a distinctively a loud whine noise? Makes it a hugh difference, huh?

And there are no another options to get a impressive sound from the mini? :w00t:

Thanks everybody for all your answers! I'm now looking for the best drop gears for the sound, not the performance.

And know somebody when you take off the flywheel house, it could be noisier?
