i have a late 2000 rover cooper which is currently off the road, and sat outside for about a year now
i know not a good idea, but the garage is full of my dads junk!!!!

i removed the mat in my car on the passenger side and found it completely soaked, the only
reasons i can think of is that, i have quite a big rust hole on the left hand edge of the windscreen
surround, and also the windscreen washer, one doesnt work the passenger side jet, and the tube
runs under the passenger side to the boot where the jet washer liquid is,cud that have a hole
in it or something?

i cant make it out?

cheers moz

The rusty hole would appear to be the main culprit......we've had a lot of rain recently. The windscreen washer would have dried up during the year through evaporation - unless you've been refilling it?

Get it into a dry place if you can....else you'll be needing new floor pans as well.

definately dry the car out. get the carpets out and let it dry. cover that hole with a plastic bag and some tape to prevent more water coming in (or better still get it in the garage!)

you need to dry the carpets and underlay out otherwise the car will just rot. you can buy dehumidifier type drybags from places like homebase that trap moisture from the air - or get a bowl of cat litter and place it in the car to help absorb the moisture.

when i bought my car the carpets were soaked and the floorpan suffer because of it. dont let it happen to you.

I had this problem, was due to the heater pipes in the car corroding and leaking, hence why only the passenger side was wet. Might not be the problem in your case but is worthwhile checking?
