not wanting to give out incorrect advice,

But i didnt know there was a difference only A series and A +

Thought the rest was all down to bob (sp?) weights for the power curve.

But i may be about to learn! lol

I think you will find that the advance curve will be different, i may be wrong. And it will depend on the age of both parts as to wether they will fit.

if you have two distributers that fit A+ engines, one for 998 and one for 1275, while they may fit either engine, they will have different vacuum and centrafugal advance and therefore, while they may work to a degree on either engine, they will not be efficient, cause poor running if you were to use the 998 on the 1275 or the 1275 on the 998.

the short answer is, yes it will fit as long as both are A , or both A+, but no its not a good idea

you can however take your mini to many mini specialists such as M.L.Motorsport and have an 'optimisation tune', where they will alter the vac advance and carb to match your engine.

i had to change my carb and dizzy and didnt have sprokets advice. always felt a bit sluggish to me, so at SMD went to the free diagnosis thing and they told me to have an optimisation tune to sort out those particular problems.

production of the mini and a series was so unprecise, that the dizzy advance etc often wouldnt be a great match for the engine anyway. so even with original dizzy, carb etc, it might be worthwhile to have it done.

i cant say if the tune worked however as i crashed a week before my visit to M.L. :D
