Does Anybody Know This Engine Number?

its a metro 1275 engine but i want to know what from. the number is 12H9D09 ****** does anybody know or know where i can find out would be a great help

but the one you have there is not a 'normal' engine number

12HD09*** is but not 12H9D09

Basically a bog standard 1300 metro


what i wanted to know was, was it from a city, gta, mg etc etc???? i was looking up the metro specs and they all have different BHP ranging from about 60 to 75 and lots of different types of metro had different BHP's

Take it with a pinch of salt, main difference is mg & austin metro engines, mg engines having a hotter cam.

well it's none of the above...

It's a straight bog std metro, nothing special, probably an HL, City or limited edition based on said models, it's not a GTa, VDP, MG, Turbo, HLE or City E

and it's not unleaded either...

its def unleaded i been using it for nearly a year lol
best match i can find is a HLE which has the code of 12HD09

you wont believe this, the HLE is the only one the parkers guide doesn't have the power for

looks like i got a 64BHP one then

i was hoping it would be a gta, sport, VP or GS for obvious reason there all 72BHP

i just put my engine number into your site and although my documents say its a 1275 your site tells me its a 998,, hmmm strange one, some more investigation needed, is there anything obviously different on a 1275 to a 998 that i could check in the morning...

A 1275 has 2 core plugs on the end of the block and probably not have tappet chest covers on the back of the engine. Unless if im not mistaken a 1275 cooper s does have these, although im not sure on that. It should also have a breather on the bell housing.

turns out that my engine cant just be a little metro HL one it must be a sport or gta or something as it has the same size valves as the MG metro does i discovered this when i did a head gasket change the other day
