Thought it was about time i started a build diary of my very rotten mini estate.The car was taken to my mates house in mansfield so we could get the welding done.Turned out to be rather a lot of welding and about 30 + different panels needed to be replaced.We started work on the car in october but as i live in lincoln i could only work on it on saturdays.

the inner sill on the drivers side was probably the worst part being made up of at least three inner sill repair sections all stitched together.What a bodge.

so the welding included the following:
new floors front to rear both sides including the innersill sections.
new rear subframe mounts
new flitch panels
new jacking points
new door steps
new rear valance sections x3
new petrol tank support panel
new a panels
new narrow sills
new sill stiffeners
new upper rear corners
rear companion bin repair sections
replacement doors and then reskinned both of them
modify the gearlinkage mount for remote gearlinkage
plus loads more that i have probably forgot.

Hmmm ,seem to have got my pics in the wrong order but never mind.

before the car was put back on its wheels we fitted a new tank and sender ,then added new fuel and brake lines.
The subframes have had new poly bushes and the brakes overhauled,new disks shoes etc.Also added some heavy duty tie bars.

The whole car was stripped to bare metal,the roof had been handpainted so took a while to get that off.Then it was all etch primed ,primed with high build primer and then resprayed in ford calypso green.Not forgetting a few coats of laquer.

Not many colours go with the green that well so i have opted to have black bumpers and mk1 grill,will also be painting the rear window surrounds and petrol tank filler surround in the black.

My mate who did the work for me is building a vauxhall clubby so i have bought his nearly new 13x7 gold ultralite extremes and his mg metro lump.We got these fitted before towing the car back to Lincoln.

the car is just a tight squeeze in my garage but i have started to put the interior and glass back in.
need to get a few more bits yet,the car doesnt have a front wiring loom ,need wheel arches,indicators and some new rubber seals.

Hopefully will have it mot'd shortly.
