hi i need to know what size thread i need to compress the front suspension cone, as im fitting hi-los. replies apreciated!

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

There is a proper tool available. Both metric and imperial threads exist but if it's an 80's or later car it's most likely M14.

M14x2 on late cones, 1/2-20 (UNF) on early cones.

14 2coarse. You can get threaded rod for it, but trying to wind down the cut on the other end on such a coarse thread is really difficult. Definitely one to buy the tool for! I *think* it went to metric in 76.
