my spanking new engine
Engine 998cc
STD MG Metro Head - unleaded conversion - 35.7mm inlet & 29mm exhaust valves
Engine block skimmed to 0.005" above deck height giving 10.5:1 compression ratio
Flat top low drag pistons, EN16T Crankshaft (Cooper) STD Con Rods
Minisport CA2 Camshaft timed straight up @ 106 degrees ATDC
Duplex Timing Chain & Sprockets
Mini Spares high - flow oil pump (NEW)
Modified Thermostat & Water Pump also small water pump drive pulley
Std Verto Clutch with new Friction Plate - Pre-engaged starter ring gear
Gearbox
The gearbox was stripped completely and inspected, it was found to be in very good condition, as you would expect from a unit that has covered just over 20,000 miles. The bearings on the main shaft were replaced as a matter of course, these are the ones most prone to failure. The other items such as selectors, syncromesh hubs, baulk rings, and the needle roller bearings between the main shaft and gears were all found to be in excellent condition. These were all cleaned and refitted. The diff was stripped a hardened pin fitted, along with a Central oil pick up pipe.
limited edition exhaust
today im off to get the bits to recover door cards.. i got a busy afternoon ahead of me.. interior is going red
