You'd need some sort of speed sensor - check out the manufacturer websites

Quite a few have fitted them. A little work will be required in mounting the speed sensor, possibly tweaking the sensors and senders for fuel, temp etc if you want those features too, again all topics covered in the past.

If you ask on the 16v mini forum they are more likely to know a lot more about connecting things like that. not that people on here aren't top notch techs its just they most likely have more experience in fitting one of those and your more likely to get a quicker spot on response.

by the way thats a gorgeous set, I really like the look of it. (not 100% keen on the plastic outter but other that its really nice)

Have a look on here http://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/ thats the company who is selling that one, they have a few other options available.
Ive fitted one myself and they are fairly easy to fit, need your haynes manual or a wiring diagram and you can work out which wires need to connect to what on the clock itself.
The oil temp sender can screw straight into the block or into one of the T's on a T-piece but the water temp sender needs to have an adapter made for it too fit into the head.

For the speed sensor ive found making an L shaped bracket to mount the sensor on off one of the bolts holding the diff side plates on works fine and welding a large blob onto the pot joint for the pick up point

can you post a pic with it fitted to clearly see how big is it?
From the dimension given, it's very small :)

I havent got one of the clock actually fitted yet but here it is when I first got mine

I looks fairly small in that pic, but its very clear when its lite up both during the day and at night. The speedo reading is very easy to read with it being in large numbers. Its really simple to use and setup and tha amount of features available on the clock is amazing.

Pretty much anything can be "made" to fit...

But begs a question why you want a speedo which reads a full sweep of 160mph when 99% of the time you'll be below 1/2 that...

It's sort of like having a rev counter which will read upto 14k, but when your engine redlines @ 7k, seems a little pointless..

For a gauge to be useful, you really only need it to read say 120% of your maximum value, therefore providing a larger scale for those important readings.

I'd guess most are also available in KMH and the electronic display ones will switch between imperial and metric. Like guessworks says - there's nothing special about the volts a Mini produces any 12volt gadget can be fitted if you can find the space for it and have enough nouse to wire it up.
