My mate wrote off his 06 mini cooper s, it was a rear end shunt so the engine etc is all still fine. My question is can this engine be transplanted into my standard roundnose??
Or is there any companys out there who do these conversions or make the subframes to fit it etc etc
Cheers for any help

here we go........ i disagree dont the cooper s' put out like 200+ bhp and from what i hear are very reliable.
282 BHP from this very nicely modded MINI Cooper S.........................

but Z-Cars have done an interesting variation on engine transplants..............a New MINI Cooper fitted with a 450 BHP turbo 2-litre i-VTEC from a Honda Civic Type S, it was featured in Modern MINI magazine recently and is for sale on Z-Cars website:

Now if you had said "the engine from a 207 GTi" you would have had a different response - even though I beleieve they are very similar if not the same!!
The Mk1 MINI (2001-2006) used the 1.6 Chrysler Tritec engine which was also used in some versions of the PT Cruiser and I think the Chrysler Neon.
The Mk2 MINI (2007-to date) uses a new 1.4 & 1.6 engine (manufactured at Hams Hall in Birmingham) that BMW developed in partnership with PSA (Peugeot Citroën) also used as you said in the Peugeot 207.

I believe Danny's point is that the Honda conversion has been done many times, it is proven, you can buy a conversion kit off the shelf. To have someone create a subframe for you is going to cost several thousand pounds. I also believe the engine is a bit bigger than the Honda one, and then you have the problem of fitting the supercharger is as well, if it is the 's'. All in all it would make for a costly and hard conversion, which would naturally lead many people to say, what is the point when you could spend a fraction of the cost on a conversion that is well proven and everyone knows works.
