I think I've worked it out, it looks like it goes on the pre verto clutch spring plate / diaphragm thing.

It is the Thrust Centre from a pre-Verto Clutch Diaphragm.

You can use the "Google" app or take a photo and use the "lens" option in the photos app.

The plate says "TOP" on it, does that mean "this way up" I.e is it installed with top facing up, or down into the diaphragm as it fits both ways and the parts diagram isn't clear. Can't see it listed in Haynes at all fwiw.

Thanks for the tip, don't have Google app, and my photo app doesnt have "lens" either.  Maybe too old like me.

'top' faces away from the diaphragm

 

the raised section is what the release bearing bears against when the clutch pedal is depressed (you can see the witness marks on the piece)

Ive just watched another video of someone stripping down a clutch, and I noticed that on his there was some sort of spring / wire thing which went under the "ears" on the diaphram, and which held the plate to the diaphram.  I dont have one of those.....

you'll need one of them, but it doesn't look like you can buy them
