yes they did could get 65-70 on them back in the day but never lasted very long at that highly tuned stated

like riding a hand grenade with the pin pulled , not if would blow up more a case of when lol

severl mates had them when i was 16-17 could kept up and pass my tuned yamaha rs100

remember james may trying to ride one on the tv managed 43mph but must have forgot he was twice the weight of a 16yr old :)

Yup, fizzys could be tuned quite nicely

Micron can

65cc big bore kit

Racing reeds

Just removing the restrictive standard exhaust makes a hell of a difference

I had an MT50

Auttissa 65cc kit

Gianella power pipe(which I cut in half and removed the baffles further)

That would do 60MPH, although only for a short while as it would heat sieze!!

Happy days!!

I had an MT50...

at least i'm not the only one daft enough to have one

mine had a GP 100 bottom end, GP 125 top end tuned to death with a rotax pipe.
used to go like stink, was great fun from a standing start against big CB's and Z's etc

Mine was an F reg and bought it brand fire new(the only new vehicle I've ever owned!!)

12 months later it was wrecked, ran into 2 cars, blew the snot out of the original engine.

Oh and it had a top box as well!!

How cool on a trial style bike!!

A mate had a fizzy custom, had a teardrop tank and a long seat, looked really cool.

Okay, this is showing my age a bit, but when I got my first brand spanking new moped in 1974 (good heavens, the war had only just finished!!!) it was a Gilera Trial 50cc in the days when they still had to have functional pedals!! After removing the standard exhaust, fitting an expansion type unit, drilling out the main jet, fitting a ram pipe in place of the filter etc. etc. it would do about 55mph on the flat and 60mph down hill. Then the spark plug melted, dropped on to the piston and melted a hole in the middle = bugga!!!

Was a nice bike though, a bit begger than the Garelli Tiger Cross, now they were quick??

Suspect what you are actually watching is 80KPH not MPH if you look where it is no idea but tropicalish chances are they use KPH, it's only about us & the yanks that use MPH
