Right, he's back on four wheels.

No pictures as yet, but to be honest, there's not much to see. Stainless caliper pistons are a quality part though, i must say.

Gave the wheels a wiggle to check the new balljoints, and they're spot on.

Just need to bleed the brakes tomorrow, and then see if they pull to one side anymore.

If they don't, then it's on to the rear end, to change the brake adjusters, and refurbish the driver's side radius arm :P

If not, then i'll cry in a corner.

Cheers, Paul.

Woooaaah i haven't updated this in a long time.

So, the car's back on the road, and has been for a while.

However, there was a LOT of messing about with the brakes, which turned out to be due to alignment... Makes handling very interesting, but still passed his MOT :)

Not that much to say really, except i drove him to Nottingham on wednesday, and then back on friday. Safe to say, for a 20 year old car, with a 1 litre engine and 4 gears, he's not too shabby on dual carraigeways

Bloody loud though.

Aaanyway here's a few pictures of the braking bits i changed :D

Thanks! The wheels and arches came off eBay, as a lot. Arches were purple though, so i just sprayed them to match the roof :)

Just had a look around the net, and yeeaah, they're definately ultralites, and 5x12 by the looks of it.

Right then, a bit of progress. Bought a headunit and 6x9's off'f a mate whos 106 exploded (well the radiator did, anyway). £40, bargain, i mainly wanted it because the headunit had an Auxillary port :(

Fitted the headunit in the same hole in the dash as the old one, proper job.

6x9s, however, much more tricksome. A new speaker board was needed then. Time to get some MDF!

What's that, i hear you cry, it only comes in sheets of 8'x4'?!

Not a problem. I have a mini, and a saw:

Less than two hours later, and we have this:

Plus enough MDF left over for my dashboard plans, and door speaker plans :D

Don't worry, the speaker board will get covered, just wanted to get the basic shape right. Tested the speakers with a few choice tunes from Linkin Park, and my teacup vibrated itself off the roof. :turtle:

Covered the MDF today, and sprayed the speaker cages to look a little less 'bling':

Looks a bit smarter, but still sounds wicked.

Cheers, i'm not a fan of bling...

Sleepers are where it's at

Oh, and another small update, i'll be getting my shiney 1275 carbed engine tomorrow

Once that's in the garage, i'll get it cleaned up, then order:

- Megajolt kit (sensor bracket, trigger wheel, magic box)
- Dizzy blanking plug
- 1275 engine steady
- Quick release engine mounts
- Inlet manifold

And i'll also get myself down to the scrappy to raid some EDIS bits.

Then we'll be ready for the swap!

Megajolt kit ordered. Little bits of bracketry are already off the engine and getting cleaned up.

I'll update more when the shiney stuff turns up. :tumble:

Shiney bits arrived!

Well the ones from triggerwheels did. Superfast shipping. :)

No doubt about it, they make a quality part! The wires and bolt however, i'd advise to source your own if you have the patience. Good quality, but 10 quid for a bolt's a bit excessive.

Time for an update, on the offchance someone's watching.

After a lot of waiting on the insurance bods, new engine is declared, so i can finally post up an update.

Got the old engine out, engine bay cleaned up, new engine in, and megajolted, all in one weekend. With poly quick release engine mounts, same old single box exhaust and lcb, minispares inlet, k and n element, reworked elbow, and sadly, a hif38 carb.

Then the triggerwheel came loose, and the resultant insane timing blew the headgasket. Still, touchwood, the only time the mini has not got me home. Luckily, got a helping push from a random passer by, and then a tow from a guy in a discovery, helpful bunch out there.

1275 pulls well, but the HIF38 really strangles it, as does the standard cam and head, so the top end power's crap. On the lookout for a well ported head, or even a standard one, that i can port out. Also need a 276 cam, and watching for a gearbox that i can rebuild.

As for the megajolt, it won't connect to anything except my house PC, which is now gone forever... Need to get a laptop on it, so i can adjust it properly, as it's not running great (read as: pants) at the mo.

Aaanyway, onto the pics:

One of the new engine bay, could do with some ht leads

Just spotted when MITP is, and i'll deffo be making an appearance, on the lookout for some parts, and a bash at the strip, which will be a bit embarassing... Might even find someone that can set up the MJ properly.

So, shopping list:

HIF44
Standard/worked head
276 cam
Gearbox
Fibreglass things :D

Also, just won a set of 3 point harnesses on eBay, so that's another problem solved.

Cheers mate, MegaJolt is actually a pain in the arse to set up. If you look on the autosport labs forums, it's full of people saying that the bloody box won't connect to their computer. It still won't, and i don't know why...
