Speaking of sounding good though, this car is the cause of me currently nursing a massive headache.
20 year old cars with four gears are crap when it comes to cruising at 80 on a dual carriageway, especially when you try to solve the problem by turning the music up
As for the carbs, they turned out to be twin HS6's, which i swapped with Cooperman on here, for a pair of HS2's on a cooper manifold
So i've got HS2's, 266 cam, and the Gucci head to go on the 1275. Aaaand it'll have the 'box off my old 998, after i've stripped it and given it a good going over.
One thing i need to find out though, is about lambda gauges. I can't afford a rolling road, so this could be a good option.
But what do i buy??
Cheers, Paul.

Started painting the back panel yesterday, but i need a new rear valence and hinge panel (unexpectedly), so work stopped there.

It looks like a heap, but with the help of the AFR gauge, the timing and fuelling is set up spot on, so i'll hurl it up the strip on sunday.
Anyone else going to the Pod on sunday?

This looks bloody awesome mate!! Just need some 10x6 wellers, some nice group 6's and slamming on its arse!!
And yep, I'm there again

Thanks mate, it'll look better with a full coat of paint...
I've always loved the look of 10's, but can't justify the spendage needed on little brakes and mooooore wheels and tyres. Plus, having driven with this wheel/tyre combo for so long, i've gotten used to it, which means it's predictable enough to really stick into the bends.
I ended up not going to the Pod on sunday, as i was hungover, skint, embarassed by the state of the car, and didn't know where my counterpart driving licence was. However there's a RWYB day this sunday, and i got paid today, so after some weldy weldy painty painty this week (gonna debumper the rear, too), should be on for that.
Oh, and i get my a level results on thursday. So depending on how those are, i might be bringing the gearbox home in a plastic bag.

But I don't think you should paint it.....I love the way it looks with the mismatching panels

Once i run out of things to do, i might have some panels in primer, or just random colours. We'll see how it goes.
Cheers for the input!

A photo of mine, Graham's and Pete's cars

Holes have been cut:

Patches have been welded:

All in the name of having a rust free, debumpered mini. Schweet.

Nice mini although the blue was nice. How you painting it? Aerosols? Keep up the hard work. I will keep following.

I did love the colour, it had just been put on so badly by whoever did it. Looked muuuch worse in real life, with paint flaking off all over. The surface hadn't been keyed enough (or at all in some areas) and areas of filler hadn't been sanded. I can't afford to get it resprayed.
So, this coat is a can of military matt black, applied with a 4" sponge roller. Works a treat!

This car's now got a 1.4 Rover K series 16v engine and bike carbs.
Engine bay looks a bit like this. Not that much left to do, mainly just wiring.
