I'm considering respraying the alloy wheels on my Civic, probably to matt black, to hide some of the kerb damage by the previous owner. I really don't know how you can have a driving licence and be that bad at not kerbing your wheels. I was thinking of just picking up a spray can from Halfords and doing it myself, but I'd like to get a decent finish. Is acrylic paint suitable for alloy wheels? Should I spray the wheels in primer first? I've sprayed a few parts on the Focus before and got a pretty good finish, good enough that it's not noticeable that it's been done with a spray can.

I've sprayed a set of wheels before - I used rattle cans, and they looked good, not perfect but good enough for me when I was 17-18.
I rubbed them down, im not sure what grade but with fine wet and dry paper first to give them a 'key'
