Hey guys,

So i'm not a real audio nerd but i do enjoy hearing :) so some extra soundproofing in my mini wouldn't go amiss!

I had a look and some people rave about flashing tape whilst others condone it!

Any ideas?

Thanks

If you're putting many 1000's of pounds worth of I.C.E. into a vehicle then it's probably worth investing in a bespoke sound deadener like dynamat etc..

If you're just doing it to reduce road noise, flashing tape every time... pound for pound the best solution.

we have been surprised how cheap dynamat is nowadays, £20.00 for a decent sized sheet that will do 2 doors and then a bit more.

flashing can work OK but you need to do at least 2 layers. B&Q do a self adhesive version that sticks and forms quite well, and given a little heat bonds even better.

Screwfix is cheaper than B&Q for it, i lined the back of the panels in my van with flashing tape before the ply lining went in, made loads of difference

Screwfix for it is best!

Iv used 2 layers behind the dash, and on the inner wheel arches and floor and in the boot.

I beleive its just as good if not better than dynamat to be honest!

Mate get dynamat It is much better and if you need to remove later on its much easyer to, i used flashin tape on my mini and have taken it back out. I have used dyamat on my focus st and it is worth the money as sed before you can get it cheap now and is made for what you want it to do.

I just ordered some eDead rolls, you get various size rolls that apprently do the work as Dynamat but cheaper (no logo). If interested here is the link.

2 Rolls of the same did the whole of my car. Although I didn't need to do the roof (if you plan on it that is).

How much flashing roughly would you need to do the bulkhead and arches, floors, doors and rear quarter? Might try it out on amy's mini, make it a bit more comfortable and quiet.

I used 60sq ft of eDead (including the boot), but if its Lead flashing Tape im guessing that'd be a massive amount to aquire. :)
