I've got all the engine bits of a 1071 for my project mini but I haven't got a gearbox.
Now I know the 1071 block is effectivley a 1275 block so my question is, Do I use a 1275 gearbox for the engine. I'm unsure what's the difference between a 998 and a 1275 gearbox apart from the drop gears. So also what drop gears do I use.
cheers,

For the traditionalist, you would be looking for a 22G190 ( the 22G333 was used on the 1275 ) cased 3 sync remote gearbox.... and you thought finding a 1071 was difficult !!!
I've seen the cases fetch over £400, and that's without the internals.
You gearbox choice should be based on the vehicle it's going in and the shape of the tunnel, if it takes a rod change, use a rod change box, and I would recommend and A+ over an A series, as they are stronger..

I paid over 1k for my 190 box with s/c gears.

A rare box but it is in excellent condition.
