Hi just a quick one just brought some 1040 semi sinthetic oil to run in my new engine done some miles already so not brand new will this be ok .

That'll be a disaster for running in on. Sinthetic oils should never be used in a mini, i don't think even racers use sinthetic half the time.
For running in you essentially want the cheapest mineral oil you can find, this is so the new piston rings will bed in properly. If you use sinthetic oil you will almost certainly glaze the bores.

So I should use 20 -50 halfords oil then for running in.
No one really mentions running in on the thread ive just read but the 20-50 seems popular

dont use synthetic oil in a mini..you will ruin it..use an ordinary 20/50 oil and change it after 500 miles....

Yep you've got it, run in on any old 20/50 then you can choose to switch to a higher quality oil after the engines run in - which could be 20-1000 miles depending on what you've read/believe is best.
Just for info, halfords oil is all made by Comma and is equivilant to the second best oil in their range - So essentially, good for the money.
