I am picking up a mini this Saturday, and I am using something like this: http://www.harborfre...temnumber=94696
I do not have any pics of a towing eye installed on a mini, which replaces a bolt in the front subframe. Does anyone have a picture? What is the rough dimension of this tow eye/thread pitch?
Thanks

That's a well priced gizmo
Strictly speaking it isn't legal to tow a car in the UK except as an emergency measure. The bolts are the subframe front mounting ones and are 3/8 UNF.

good thing I'm in the states, does that tow eye stick out of the grill then?

Thought the $ sign in the ad might be a clue!
Not all Minis have them, if you can find a front on piccy you'll see a round hole under the front bumper for access to the subby mounting bolt. If you didn't use the genuine eyebolt you'd most likely need a bit of a spacer. Fitting a bracket under the tie bar nuts might be an alternative. Moss-Europe and Somerford have some nice drawings in their online parts catalogues that might help you see what's what.
