Anyone got any tips on removing the front subframe? the haynes manual doesn't seem to cover this only removal of the rear subframe!

To be honest it is fairly straight forward. Are you doing it with the engine out or dropping the whole lot down?

Okey dokey, I'd say that the easiest way is to undo the tower bolts at the top last (assuming that you have the later type of subframe) these are the big bolts near the bulkhead.
I always used to undo the front teardrop mounts first, then the ones at the back that go through the floor. But it has been a while since I did one. IIRC you have to take the steering rack off to be able to drop the frame???
If so, the easiest way I found was to undo the pinch bolt, then the U-bolts that hold the rack to the floor. Hopefully you have someone to help you because they are fairly heavy items.
Make sure you got it jacked up and on axle stands nice and safe too. Once you've undone everything you need too, brake pipes etc too, undo the tower bolts and lower the frame to the floor (I always use a car jack and a mate to keep it steady til bith bolts are undone. I'd also make sure that you have the car jacked up high enough to be able to slide the frame out from under the front too. That's all I can remember, the only thing I can think of is that if the a mini has an airbag, I aint sure about where the sensor is, so you may have to read up on that if it needs to be disconnected????

no you don't have to drop the rack, just release the track rod ends from the hub and the shock off.
