Model: Mini Cooper 1.6, Manual, Petrol
Year: 2008
Problem: Head Gasket blown.
My wife has had her '08 Mini Cooper since late July '08, the car has done a grand total of 2006 miles since new.
Earlier today, the yellow engine warning light came on, she brought the car straight home and infromed me of the problem.
When I checked the oil it appeared thin, I then checked the oil filler cap and found the inside full of emulsified oil.
I called BMW emergency who arranged for a mechanic to come and look at the car.
As I suspected, he informed me that it looked like the head gasket had blown and that the car would be taken to the local Cooper garage for repair on Monday.
I am astonished that this could happen in a car that is lightly driven and has only done 2006 miles from new, is this a known or common problem with Mini Coopers?
Fortunately the repair will be covered by warranty, I am concerned that, having happened once, this problem may happen again, is this likely?
Thanks for any feedback.

Wrong Forum mate, this is for Classic Minis not BINIS - click here MINI2

What Nick meant was:
"Although it would be good to point out that we're MINI friendly here...

You're unlikely to get exactly the experienced answer you're after as we're generally working with Classic pre-BMW Minis.
However, if you look at the specific MINI forum, you'll probably find someone else who has had the same issue with the slightly larger cousin.
Best of luck fella!"
