Does help if you get the link right
http://www.tat-rd.co...Chassisdyno.htm
These are most commonly called a dyno, dynomometer, RR or Rolling Road
The Chassis dyno just means that the engine is in the car and uses the drive train. and engine dyno means that the engine is connected to the dyno dirrect to the flywheel

Err, why would you want one? They cost a lot. The only way to get one cheap would be second hand, from a garage or tuning specialist that is closing down or upgrading their equipment I would think. It would still cost thousands of pounds I would think. Even if you do get one owning the machine is only half the battle. Learning how to use it, and to develop the skill and experience to know how to interpret what it's telling you is a long process.
Do you mean you want to book a dyno session cheaply? For the same reasons as above you won't really find anyone offering dyno time at a very cheap rate or if you do you have to wonder how good they are. The cheapest way to book a session is often to go along with a local car club on a group day when the dyno will offer a discount but you will normally only get a power run from that and not very much help with tuning.

Unless you're starting a business it would be pretty pointless to buy a dyno!! They're very expensive, and also need (not cheap) calibration and setting up.
