Differential casing has a big crack and is leaking oil from it, so chances are it doesent look too healthy inside.
Question is will this be an engine out job? I can see bolts holding the casing on but if the diff inside needs changing then the gearbox will have to come off?
Them driveshafts look a pain to get out too, am I right in thinking I will be needing some sort of special tool apart from a pry bar?

After a crunch and a big loss of oil the other day I have fianally got round to inspecting the damage that has been done.

To be honest, I would think it wise to have the engine out and take a good look at the gearbox while you are at it... if something has gone bang then there's a good chance of damage or at least some nasty bits in the gearbox too

Against my advice he just took the diff housing off with the engine slid forward but then found the planet gears had both smashed and wasnt sure how many chunks were still in the engine.
His motor is now out and being stripped down to assess the rest of the damage.
As per the last post Its not really worth messing with it.

Coupled with the fact that something has probaby died inside I would bite the bullet and look for a re-conditioned 'box complete. There was one in the For Sale section this morning.
