Seems like a strange question but I just need to put my mind at rest.

I've noticed my mechanical fuel pump points in such a way that my fuel hose to my carb runs really near to my LCB, approximately half a inch if that and I can't think of an alternative way of getting around this.

I didn't like the look of it when I bought the mini but I did my best to re-route the hose and prevent it from contacting the manifold and a couple of people have said its fine. But now I've had someone else say its really dangerous and the hose could burn through and start a fire! So now I'm scared again.


Just want to ask if this is normal and i'm just being a wimp or how close it too close and what can I do to protect it?

Whimp. You can pour fuel onto a hot manifold and it will do nothing.

Haha, strangly, this was true for me, my old carb was leaking...well pouring, fuel onto my hot manifold, and it just seemed to evaporate before it could ignite lol.

Well I don't want to try it but I'll take your word for it then, I'm happy to be a whimp than a hot potato!

just note that the pipe that runs nearer to the manifold is supposed to be metal and not rubber. than you would have rubber on the pump and carb side

As above, it should have a short section of hose onto a piece of copper pipe that comes up to the carb, then another short section onto the carb

Mines just rubber fuel hose....

You can take the exit of the pump and realign it to point further away.

On my mini I pointed it away, and then made a new fuel pip to go up the bulkhead and onto it's top, then across behind the carb and up to the intake.

My metal pipework is held to the bulkhead by three cable ties, and connected to the pump and carb by rubber fuel hoses and jubilee clips.

Making a new pipe doesn't take long, and allows you to get it right away from the exhaust manifold.
